Artificial intelligence is changing the tools and methods of engineering work, but it does not eliminate the need for judgment, creativity, or adaptability. This conclusion was one of the axes of the panel “Flying High! Tecolotes around the World: Does AI replace the engineer or make him more powerful?”, organized by the Alumni Association of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara.
The debate is relevant for any organization evaluating new software solutions. Technology can process information, automate activities, and accelerate responses; however, people remain responsible for defining priorities, interpreting results, and deciding how to apply a solution in real-world situations.
During the meeting, the panelists noted that the professional future will not depend solely on solving problems, but on identifying what the correct questions are. That capability helps distinguish between executing a task quickly and understanding whether the result meets a concrete need, whether it will be useful to people, and what consequences it may generate.
“Stop worrying so much about solving problems and focus more on having the right questions.”
The same logic applies to business digital transformation. A technological platform provides greater value when it is integrated into everyday processes and not when it forces teams to work with isolated systems. At Onix Board we bring together in a single ecosystem client management, communication, content, sales, automations, e-commerce, teams, and digital channels.
From replacement to collaboration
Collaboration between people and software begins with a clear distribution of responsibilities. Artificial intelligence can answer questions, handle requests, recommend options, capture leads, generate content, and follow up on conversations. When a situation requires interpretation, sensitivity, or a particular decision, attention can be transferred to a person.
This model also helps reduce operational fragmentation. Onix Board's unified inbox centralizes conversations from WhatsApp Business, Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram, while its automations allow initiating flows through messages, comments, intents, or specific actions. Teams can monitor the process and review results through analytical dashboards by flow and channel.
Human judgment continues to define the outcome
The speed of a tool does not guarantee that a decision is correct. Therefore, adopting artificial intelligence should be accompanied by clear objectives, human review, and measurement of results. It also requires accepting that learning includes errors, adjustments, and changes of direction, especially when software is applied to real processes.
For companies, the next step is not about choosing between human talent and artificial intelligence. It consists of identifying a specific process, automating what consumes time without adding differentiation, and reserving teams' capacity to analyze, create, communicate, and decide.
At Onix Board we believe software should expand people’s capabilities. A connected, measurable, and supervised operation allows adopting artificial intelligence more clearly and turning technology into a collaborative tool to improve operational efficiency without losing sight of the business purpose.
