Latin American companies do not turn AI adoption into profits

29/06/2026

A report published warns that many Latin American companies have adopted artificial intelligence tools but have not translated that adoption into clear financial returns, affecting various sectors and company sizes across the region.

The analysis, which draws on estimates from organizations and consultancies, places the regional economic potential of AI between $1.1 and $1.7 trillion annually, but only 6% of organizations report meaningful financial value creation and around 23% derive some measurable economic value.

The gap between adoption and results is largely explained by execution issues: many initiatives remain pilots or isolated functions and are not integrated into core operational flows because cloud infrastructure and legacy systems are not modernized or connected to the new tools.

Furthermore, more than 80% of software-as-a-service companies in the region have launched AI-enabled capabilities, but availability of capabilities does not by itself generate value without accompanying changes in processes, governance, and technology architecture.

From our experience at Onix Board, we observe that the companies that do achieve results combine three elements: prioritization of use cases with clear economic impact, modernization of critical systems, and continuous measurement of operational and commercial impact.

How to address it concretely

We recommend a staged route that we already apply with clients: identify priority touchpoints where AI can move key metrics; integrate agents and automations with the central operation platform; and establish controls, audit trails, and metrics dashboards to validate improvements in retention, conversion, or efficiency.

  1. Multichannel conversational automation and operational assistants to reduce friction in support.
  2. Unified inbox and analytic dashboards to consolidate data by flow and channel.
  3. AI-assisted content generation and campaign automation to convert interactions into sales.

At Onix Board we offer scalable capabilities and a temporary trial option to validate results before expanding investment. If you would like to assess how to integrate AI with your operation and accelerate value generation, contact us at contacto@onixboard.com or +52 443 734 6167.

Finally, regional evidence indicates that transformation is possible, but requires moving from point projects to a technological and operational restructuring that makes AI a sustained lever for productivity and business.
