Retail Forum Mexico: specialists indicate that AI is indispensable for the sector's competitiveness

At Retail Forum Mexico, executives and specialists agreed that artificial intelligence must be integrated with a strategic plan to automate processes, tailor the experience, and avoid market losses. The retail sector, which accounted for around 10% of Mexico's GDP by the end of 2025, thus faces the urgency of consolidating data, governance, and scalable pilots

In the twenty-sixth edition of Retail Forum Mexico, industry specialists and executives agreed that artificial intelligence must be implemented with a clear strategy to automate processes, adjust inventories, and accurately address customer needs; otherwise, companies could miss business opportunities.

Speakers highlighted the economic relevance of commerce: by the end of 2025, retail accounted for approximately 10% of Mexico's Gross Domestic Product, so technological transformations in the sector have a direct impact on national competitiveness.

In various panels, representatives from food, fashion, and home goods suppliers stressed the need for hyper-personalization and for creating trusted spaces with customers, in addition to warning about the risk of inventory misalignments if information is not consolidated and translated into operational action.

From our perspective at Onix, AI effectiveness requires three elements: data consolidation, automation of operational flows, and analytic dashboards that convert signals into decisions. Our platform integrates multi-channel conversational automation, store management, and real-time dashboards to support these steps.

Experts urged companies to start with pilots that prioritize high-impact use cases, define governance and roles, and modernize integrations before scaling technology; they also noted the importance of auditing processes and diversifying suppliers to increase traceability and security in supply chains.

Additionally, recent studies show that a significant portion of consumers already interacts with AI assistants when shopping, underscoring the urgency of offering reliable and protected digital experiences.

Finally, for small and medium-sized enterprises and regional chains, the operational recommendation is clear: prioritize automation of repetitive tasks, consolidate information into a single operational layer, and measure results with simple indicators before expanding investments. If you would like to evaluate a pilot designed for your operation, we can help you with the diagnosis, KPI definition, and launching controlled trials.
